First pregnancy, can a pinched nerve affect the baby?

I'm 17 weeks pregnant. I've had a slight pinched nerve for years, and I've had back pains earlier in my pregnancy and got that checked, everything was okay. Now its giving me some sharp pains in my right leg, from the buttocks down to my knee. Should i get this checked? could it affect my baby? I'm not bleeding or anything, just slight cramping very dull.
