How can remote communities go to heaven if they never heard of jesus?

.....such as the maori of new zealand not discovered until around 1650 i think, millions of them across hundreds of generations never even heard about jesus so they never had an opportunity to go to heaven, because as any 'good' christain will tell you, NONE SHALL GET TO THE FATHER WITHOUT GOING THROUGH THE SON, or something like that, did god forsake them all, or perhaps the more logical conclusion is that god doesnt exist ?
